Satish S. Naik
B.Sc. · Businessman and community volunteer

“Throughout our lives, we receive from society and remain indebted to it. We must therefore give at least a little back to society to reduce our social debt.”
Satish Subraya Naik is the son of Smt. Meera and Subraya Ganapati Naik, both dedicated teachers. He has lived by this ideal throughout his life. After completing his B.Sc. at Dr. A. V. Baliga College in Kumta, he established his own business in 1994, opening two household appliance showrooms: Shree Vignesh and Shree Ganesh Agencies.
He joined the Rotary Club of Kumta in 2001 and has remained active in community service ever since. As Club President in 2011–12, he received Rotary International’s “Best President” award, along with nine other honours. During his tenure, he raised approximately ₹45 lakh to establish the Soukhya Dialysis Center, coastal Uttara Kannada’s first private dialysis centre. With donor support, the centre offers dialysis at ₹150 for people in need and ₹900 for others.
In 2011, he funded solar lighting worth ₹5 lakh for 25 homes in Medhini, a remote hill village in Kumta taluk without access to grid electricity.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he provided Kumta Government Hospital’s dialysis unit with a new dialysis machine worth ₹8 lakh and medicines worth ₹4.5 lakh through his Soukhya Charitable Foundation.
He has served as Working President of the Kumta Amateur Kabaddi Association for eight years and as Treasurer of the Kumta Sports Club, which promotes leather-ball cricket. He organised state-level tournaments in collaboration with KSCA Bangalore for three consecutive years.
For 15 years, he has held various roles, including Secretary and Convenor, with the Bhagavad Gita Abhiyaan Samiti under Sonda Swarnavalli Matha. He also chaired the committee that rebuilt Kumta’s Shree Dattatreya Temple (Kumbheshwar) as a stone structure.
He lives with his wife, Suvarna, and their children, Priya and Ganesh.
